Exterior
Smart Access
With a unique secure code, the SmartAccess
[1]
key fob automatically enables you to unlock and open all four of the vehicle’s doors and its available power rear door without removing the key fob from your purse, pocket or briefcase. As soon as the sensors detect your SmartAccess key fob, the door unlocks when you touch the handle. SmartAccess even activates the lighting entry system to illuminate your points of entry from the exterior puddle lamps to the interior lights. Once inside, it just takes a push of the button to start the engine.
[1]
The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. The key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key matches the code in the vehicle’s immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key, your Lexus dealer can help, or you can find a qualified independent locksmith to perform high security key services at www.aloa.org.
Adaptive Front Lighting (AFS)
A particularly useful feature when driving at night or during inclement weather, the available Adaptive Front Lighting System is designed to estimate and illuminate where the RX will be in three seconds based on vehicle speed and steering angle. In a left turn, the left headlamp can rotate up to 15 degrees, and in a right turn, the right headlamp can rotate up to 10 degrees.
Intelligent Highbeam Headlamps
Helping to provide greater visibility to the driver without compromising the visibility of other drivers on the road, the available intelligent highbeam headlamps
[1]
on the RX operate in high-beam mode until a camera mounted in the back of the rearview mirror detects the headlamps from an oncoming vehicle or other vehicles traveling closely ahead. The headlamps will then automatically enter into low-beam mode until vehicles are no longer detected ahead.
[1]
The intelligent highbeams can help improve vision at night. However, conditions such as a dirty windshield, rapidly changing light conditions or hilly terrain will limit effectiveness so the driver may need to manually change the high beams from on to off. Please see Owners Manual for details.
Power Rear Door
The available power rear door of the RX offers remote, keyless access to the rear storage area. The lift-gate can be raised and lowered from inside the vehicle by using a switch or remotely with the included key fob.
Next-Generation Design
Completely redesigned, the RX is markedly different from the previous generation. With sharply defined and dramatically angled lines, and a distinctive trapezoid grille, the all-new 2010 RX shares many design cues with the current Lexus sedans. It also features standard 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels
[1]
and can be outfitted with available 19-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels
[2]
that are exclusive to the RX.
[1]
18-in performance tires are expected to experience greater tire wear than conventional tires. Tire life may substantially be less than 15,000 miles, depending upon driving conditions.
[2]
19-in performance tires are expected to experience greater tire wear than conventional tires. Tire life may be substantially less than 15,000 miles, depending upon driving conditions.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
This advanced system
[1]
available on the RX is designed to adapt to traffic congestion by using radar technology to help maintain a pre-set following distance from the vehicle traveling in front of you. If you get too close, the throttle is automatically reduced and brakes are applied. Once the road clears, the RX will return to its pre-set speed.
[1]
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. Please see your Owner's Manual for important instructions and cautions.
Intuitive Parking Assist
Available sensors integrated into the front and rear bumpers help detect how close your vehicle is to surrounding objects. Audible warning tones and graphics in the multi-information console display and available navigation screen assist the driver in knowing the location and proximity of objects around the vehicle.
Rear Spoiler
The rear spoiler on the RX diffuses the air flowing over the back of the vehicle, decreasing turbulence, creating a remarkably low coefficient of drag and increasing fuel efficiency. Beyond these primary functions, the spoiler also houses an additional rear taillamp and conceals the radio antenna and rear-window wiper for a sleeker appearance from behind.
Water-Repellent Windows
Driver and front-seat passenger windows made from water-repellent glass help provide greater visibility during precipitation.
Tow-Hitch Receiver
The all-wheel drive RX is available with a tow-hitch receiver designed exclusively by Lexus engineers for the RX, enabling you to tow up to 3,500 pounds
[1]
.
[1]Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on the total weight of any cargo, occupants and available equipment.
