Aerodynamic Design
Every aspect of the CT—from its tapered cabin and its LFA-inspired side mirrors to its underbody design—has been engineered for superior airflow. The result is a remarkably low 0.29 coefficient of drag that not only offers improved fuel efficiency and less wind noise, but enhances control, handling and comfort.
Five-Door Design
Offering easy access to its more than 30 cubic feet of maximum cargo area [1], the five-door design provides the ultimate in convenience and versatility.
[1]
Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and distribution.
SmartAccess
With a unique secure code in the key fob, the SmartAccess [1] [2]
system recognizes you and automatically allows you to unlock and open all four doors and the trunk. The ultimate in convenience, all you need to do is grab a door handle or press the trunk open button. SmartAccess even activates the lighting entry system to illuminate your points of entry from the exterior puddle lamps to the interior lighting.
[1]
The SmartAccess system may interfere with some pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators. If you have one of these medical devices, please talk to your doctor to see if you should deactivate this system.
[2]
The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or bring a SmartAccess fob into the vehicle, the key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key or SmartAccess fob matches the code in the vehicle's immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key or SmartAccess fob, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key or SmartAccess fob, your Lexus dealer can help. Alternatively, you can find a qualified independent locksmith to perform high-security key services by consulting your local Yellow Pages or by contacting www.aloa.org.
Illuminated Side Mirrors
The LFA-inspired side-view mirrors feature integrated light-emitting diode (LED) turn signals to help warn other drivers of intended lane changes or turns. In addition, puddle lamps are located on the underside of the mirrors. They light the ground next to the door to prevent you from stepping in puddles, slush or other road debris. As you approach the CT, the SmartAccess
[1] [2] key remotely turns on the puddle lamp. And, when equipped with the available Leather Package, the CT features mirrors that automatically tilt down when the CT is placed in reverse.

LED Lighting
With a distinctive light-emitting diode, (LED) daytime running lights (DRL) offer an aggressive appearance and can make your CT more visible to vehicles approaching from a distance.
The available twin low-beam LED headlamps require 45% less power than conventional headlights. Not only are these headlamps more efficient, they also deliver better illumination, further enhancing the CT's striking appearance.

Low Center of Gravity
To ensure the lowest center of gravity possible for optimal agility, the overall vehicle height, ride height and the driver's hip point have been set as low as possible. Hybrid components are centrally located within the wheelbase, optimizing weight distribution and balance. And, to reduce the weight of the parts furthest from the vehicle's center of gravity, aluminum is used in body components such as the hood and rear door, while the body itself also includes a significant amount of high-tensile steel. While the use of lightweight materials makes it the lightest Lexus yet, its sculpted shape and innovative interior design help to ensure it's every bit as smooth and quiet as a Lexus sedan.
Backup Camera
Backing out of tight spaces is much easier with the available backup camera [1] . This system uses a tiny camera located above the rear license plate to help show what's behind the vehicle. Place the CT in reverse, and the camera's view is displayed in full color on the retractable eight-inch LCD screen or, if selected as an option, within the rearview mirror itself.
[1]
The backup camera does not provide a comprehensive view of the rear area of the vehicle. You should also look around outside your vehicle and use yoru mirrors to confirm rearward clearance. Cold weather may limit effectiveness and view may become cloudy.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
To help maintain a pre-set following distance, the available Dynamic Radar Cruise Control [1] uses radar technology. Should yoru vehicle get too close to the one traveling just ahead, the throttle is automatically reduced and the brakes are applied. As soon as the road ahead clears, your vehicle returns to your pre-selected speed.
[1]
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. Please see your Owner's Manual for important instructions and cautions.
